Artistic Expressionist Ravenna Amalia

Big Islander Ravenna Amalia is a natural beauty lover who creates artistic expressions of inspiration and healing through her company, Apothecary Botanique. Talented at many things, the focus here is her enthusiasm of handmade and therapeutic products.

In summary, we’re talking divine perfumes, potions and elixirs. Examples are Yummylicious Body Butter, irresistible Wine & Chocolate Perfume (a signature scent created for the Volcano Winery), Luscious Lip Balm, Wake Me Up Organic Coffee & Sea Salt Scrub, Skin Healing Herbal Salve (made of Hawaiian kukui, beeswax, propolis, lemongrass), and get this ― Prosperity Attraction Potion (created only during the waxing moon).

Check out Ravenna’s goodies on her Etsy Shop. And if you’re shopping old-fashioned style in person, find her creations at Blue Ginger Gallery in Kainaliu, Kona Art Gallery in Holualoa, Paleaku Peace Garden in Kealakekua, Volcano Garden Arts in Volcano, or Volcano Winery in Volcano.

Product descriptions are detailed with many local ingredients and personal sentiments. After following natural-organic potion creators for multiple years, I’m most impressed. It’s such a joy to discover an innovative supplier that Big Island may be very proud of. So be inspired, supportive, and pass the word!

Miracles Through Botanicals

The Seaview Performing Arts Center for Education, referred in Puna as SPACE, always has some exciting vendors who make products from local means.

Last July I met Achaia Johnson at SPACE. And at first glance, I thought there was nothing unusual about selling essential oils. Then I wondered, — could she be producing EOs right here on Big Island? So I stopped to look and ask.

Fact is, her EOs are from Miracle Botanicals where founder Hope Johnson sources from around the globe. Upon receipt of the oils, she charges them with Reiki energy. The purpose is to amplify the healing properties, enabling the ability to communicate divine wisdom to human consciousness. This is a mother-daughter business.

For those who are not familiar with the amazing benefits of aromatherapy it is easy to overlook Hope and Achaia's market display. Take a closer look to find not only a list of ingredients in each bottle, but the purpose of each as well. Hope is obviously a blend expert, which is a skill far beyond basic knowledge of EOs. Shop by emotions, — online or in person!

For example, Cloud 9 - 100% Pure Essential Oil Blend is recommended for stress. It promotes psychic awareness, balancing, calming, and uplifting with warming, soothing, stimulating, and peaceful sensations; — a feeling of being on Cloud 9.

For the emotion of fear, Jasmine (Co2 Extract) in Argan - 10% Pure Co2 Jasminum Grandiflorum in 90% Pure Argania Spinosa is recommended. Jasmine's purpose is to provide a personal haven. It’s a mood lifter, eases depression, and opens the mind to positive thoughts and ideas, which induces a feeling of relaxed confidence.

Facebook users are invited to "like" Miracle Botanicals and visit Achaia's Beautiful Desires fb page with some of her jewelry creations. Or see everything at SPACE Saturday mornings in Seaview.

Kapa Designer Mia Teine Displays Talent on Maui

Kapa designer Mia Teine is originally from Hilo on Hawai'i, but now lives in Makawao on Maui.

Mia usually displays and sells from the hotels and resorts on Maui, but happened to be in Kula at the Farmers' Market this day in April.

Her handmade cloths are derived from Mulberry tree pods and she's been at it for more than a dozen years. Mia says the process takes about a month.

Beautiful work! Be sure to view related posts especially if you are not familiar with luxurious kapa and look for Mia if you're touring the local arts.

Natural Cotton Grown in Seaview

Several weeks ago Rob Guzman displayed his pesticide-free cotton at SPACE. Hey, grown in Seaview!

Unfortunately, Rob said his stay is temporary, but he kindly gave me some seeds and said that our Big Island climate is well suited for cotton ag.

Rob explained that the cotton was grown without pesticides, but the fertilizer he utilized was not labeled organic.

Proof enough to me that anyone with an organic cotton growing dream can manifest their vision into reality.

Anyone interested in testing these seeds may feel free to contact me. Terms are only to advise me of progress, and let me witness results.

At the time, Rob offered body cremes he made on Seaview Farms as well. SPACE is really cool for discovering local creativity.

Green Business Tools: Hawaiian Eco Suppliers Take Advantage

HawaiiGreenPages.com
Thankfully, green businesses are launching new sites and existing ones are growing stronger. That's not referring to your general e-commerce though. The focus is on suppliers and wholesalers. In fact, there's a digital world of creativity going on to publish eco-conscious companies into complimentary directories.

Think free green pages versus conventional yellow pages. Tool sites not only serve the public, but they strengthen business-to-business (a/k/a B2B) networking capabilities impressively. The door opens to Hawaii collaborations in many forms.

Most of the green business tool sites offer more than free directory listings. Of course fees typically apply for more, but expect far better prices than print advertising, ‒ which is literary becoming antiquated, and especially for small enterprises. Below are free-listing examples.

HawaiiGreenPages.com provides direct access to green resources. The directory enables readers to enjoy a healthier greener lifestyle with information about environmental and health-minded choices available in Hawaii. Amongst other advertising options, see the FREE LINE LISTING order form.

ReallyHawaiian.com
Live Green Hawai’i also invites you to list in their directory without a fee. Requirements are that the location be on Big Island of Hawaii, or have a Big Island relationship, and have a green aspect or component. Guest authors are encouraged to post an article.

ReallyHawaiian.com is not a "green" site, but certainly invites companies for a free listing. They evaluate submissions carefully to ensure services or products are grown in, processed in, manufactured in, packaged in, and/or inspired by the Hawaiian islands.

My Chíc Eco company supports farmers, craftspeople, designers and suppliers that recycle or create fashionable products in non-toxic manners. The mission is to help preserve our planet Earth by supporting such eco-conscious providers, and with a vision for product development and manufacturing to become a sustainable process around the globe. Join the global force and get listed for potential local marketing. Honorable recognition may be applied in any relevant and upcoming Chic Eco Directory. Even better is that your business may be praised on a blog, or revealed to green buyers, or shared with clients who request earth-friendly consultation.

Because the green movement is focused on local sourcing, you'll find more of the national and international sites providing community search tools. Add Green Collar Technologies: Education for Green Collar Workers in Hawai‘i, as a resource to improve all your marketing efforts. It's all good for green biz in Hawai'i!
